- Artistic vocal happening -

Although often forgotten, fashion, and especially fast fashion, has its dirty dark side. Fashion embodies our broken system - single-use products manufactured in dangerous conditions for workers, using toxic chemicals, causing water pollution… Every day, tons of unsold clothing end up on the shores of African countries. As with many other things, the wealthy Global North prefers to send the problem away.

Fashion industry is responsible for 10% of global greenhouse gases emissions. It is the equivalent of the European Union and twice the emissions of aviation and maritime transport! Plastic fibers released from dumped textiles contribute hugely to the world's pollution and water contamination problems.

We are not only talking about devastating effects of fashion on nature. People’s very lives are in danger. Let’s only name the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh that taught us nothing… It is 2025 folks, this has to stop!

We decided to ally with Fashion Revolution, Clean Clothes Campaign, OXFAM, AchACT, and many other campaigns denouncing fast fashion's dirty secrets. We are gathering on Saturday 18th of January at Place de la Monnaie in Brussels, in the heart of the Belgian capital and its shopping districts, to show our objection to this industry. We are in the period of winter sales, but we are not falling into the trap of overconsumerism. As our friends and allies from GrowthKills and Scientist Rebellion did one month ago, we continue the effort.

Join us for this artistic happening! Let’s collectively denounce scandals linked to the textile industry. Let’s demand regulations, living wages for workers and toxic-free garments. Let’s make textile collection mandatory. Let’s save freshwater. Instead of spending your hardly earned euros on poor quality clothes, come and sing with us! ATTAC Brussels singers will stand with us. Will you? And remember that less is more!
