📚 SlowRead: From what is, to what if – Rob Hopkins

🗓️ 26 September at 10:00

📍Unity Bookshop - Chau. de Wavre 83, 1050 Ixelles

Join us on 26 September to read ‘From what is, to what if’ by Rob Hopkins. We do have the capability to effect dramatic change, Hopkins argues, but we’re failing because we’ve largely allowed our most critical tool to languish: human imagination. As defined by social reformer John Dewey, imagination is the ability to look at things as if they could be otherwise. The ability, that is, to ask What if? And if there was ever a time when we needed that ability, it is now.

SlowRead is not your usual book club invitation. It's a no-prep, no-deadline zone of arpentage where we explore the book individually in parts (on the spot) and then bring everything together in conversation as a group.

⏰ Schedule:

• 10:00 – Arrive, grab a tea, and choose a chapter

• 10:20 – Read slowly, surrounded by fellow readers

• 11:20 – Share insights and join the discussion

🍿 Extras:

• Bring your book if you have it. If not, we can share a chapter on-site or send it before the event (having an e-reader or laptop helps but not obligatory).

• We meet at Unity Bookshop, in their beautiful garden, feel free to bring little snacks!

🐌 This event is organised by GrowthKills, campaign supported by Scientist Rebellion. We challenge the ideology of infinite growth on a finite planet.
